Stitches, knitting and embroidery
All products at Wildemasche are knitted. 1 pixel in the design file = 1 knitted stitch in the product. This is pixel to stitch knitting.
Look at the football scarf design below with logos on the edges. This is the file that comes out of the online designer. It is color reduced and reduced to the size needed.
The letters "J.F.C." are displayed in the smallest size possible, that is stroke width / line thickness = 1 pixel.
In the image below, there is the image of the scarf with stroke width / line thickness = 1 stitch.
What are the advantages of knitted products?
The design is put in the product permanently, it cannot tear off, wash out or fade out (as e.g. with printed designs).
The whole surface of the product can be designed. because the product is produced from thousands of stitches anyway. You can define the color of every single stitch knitted (up to the maximum number of colors), not only in a printable area or a small embroidery patch.
What cannot be done with knitting?
The number of colors is limited. Depending on product, 2 to 5 colors can be used at a time.
Overmore, the design has to be made smaller to fit a certain grid size, this way one pixel in the image will become one knitted stitch in the product. So the resolution is lower compare to printed or embroidered products.
See the embroidered patch on the left of this image. The stitches are smaller and more details can be displayed. But only on the small space of the patch, not allover the product.
What is the difference between knitting and embroidery
